This summer saw the arrival of several noteworthy book-to-film adaptations in theaters and moviegoers can expect plenty more this fall. Hollywood is hitting the books hard this season. In addition to the YA film adaptations still coming to theaters this year, there are also over a dozen more novels soon to reach the big screen. Here are 16 book adaptations to look out for in the coming months.

The Drop

Based on a short story by Dennis Lehane (that is being released as a full-length novel later this year), this crime thriller examines the use of New York City bars as money laundering ‘drop.’ It follows a lonely Brooklyn bartender who uncovers a drop of a different sort in the form of a pit bull puppy that he rescues, leading him to come into contact with Nadia, a mysterious woman hiding a dark past. Directed by MichaĆ«l R. Roskam, the movie stars Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace, as well as the late James Gandolfini in his last feature film. The movie is due for debut on September 12.
